I liked this book, but it wasn’t massively different compared to the previous books in this series.
I liked Riley and Tao, but their dynamic as well as their interactions with the other characters were similar, if not the same, as the interactions the main characters in the other books had.
The plot was fine, but I was a bit bored, and it wasn’t clear what was happening. Also, it’s not revealed what exactly happened at the waterfall half a year before the shooting.
I didn’t really like how the further in the series you get, the more fated mates are talked about as bad/unwanted and how imprinted mates are better.
I probably won’t continue with this series, but I do want to try other books by this author, which aren’t set in this series’ world.
There is so much to unwrap here so I’ll try to break it down into bite size chunks!
Teo - I went off Tea a little bit in book 1 mainly because of the whole wanting to imprint on Taryn and then totally ignoring her after her and Trey mated (dick move) so I wasn’t sure how this book would go. In the last book we saw him absolutely hate Riley because she is an outsider and I understand he pretty much hates all outsiders but I didn’t like his attitude at the end of the last book. Add that to how he was in book 1 I really really wasn’t sure if I could like him again but I came around to him and warmed up to him throughout this book.
Riley - Riley is my kinda girl! She is sassy and fun loving, loves the kids and is super protective of them and still a dominant female. She has issues and likes to retreat and be alone but then she dwells on things and runs scenarios through her mind until she works herself up and this is something I can totally relate to so I loved Riley from minute one of the last book.
I really enjoyed seeing the differences between the Pack and the Flock. Like they don’t really eat indoors much and only eat other as a flock once every 2 weeks whereas the pack are always eating together and bonding. Seeing Riley’s past made me want to wrap her up in cotton wool and never let her go. Her past was filled with so much trauma and going back home for a visit made so many issues arise.
There are 2 threats at once during this story which I kind of liked, it made you think one thing was happening when really it was another. I decided straight away who the shooter was and knew it had to be Shirley because what mother wouldn’t be devastated her sweet son would shoot all those people. She wanted to blame someone to remember her son as the loveable kid not a murderer. Twisted in the head already because of that but I was NOT expecting to hear about her true mate etc. I’m happy Teo found someone but Riley was my main focus in this not Teo unfortunately.
Fighting against humans at the same time I was sure we would see kidnapped and Trey go feral but that didn’t happen although the humans did re appear at the end which I didn’t think they would because I thought she would have just written them to stop going after Taryn.
This book in the series jumps right into the dirty stuff and there is no dancing around seeing that one wants the other but won’t admit it like the other books I’m the series. I like how this was a different formula to the other books but I would have liked to see more of Riley settling in and just exactly how Teo warmed up to her. I loved how finally there was an inter-species true mate couple as I wasn’t sure if the author would ever write this into the series. I loved max and Ethan and really want them to love in with the Phoenix Pack because I want to see more of them but they may make an appearance for Riley. I felt a lot was left out of this book where we could have seen more ‘normal’ days but everything seemed to go straight into the action no matter where they went.
I LOVE the kids and their little quirks. Savannah is so sassy and Dexter is adorable with his little food hiding habit. I am glad Riley is now the official Guardian because we hopefully will see more of the kids growing up.
I couldn’t give it 5 stars because I felt there was a lot of things missing from this story but it was still good so a solid 4. Can’t wait for Tricks book and I’m hoping he gets a boyfriend so we can see a same sex couple but I don’t think the author really wants to write the sex scenes between them so I can only hope but not holding my breath.

Fierce Obsessions is the sixth book in the "Phoenix Pack" Series.
Tao is distrustful of new people around his pack. Riley is no different, at first. It's been months since the raven shifter Riley was given sanctuary by the Phoenix pack. She is guarded and keeps her past a secret from the pack. But the more Tao hangs around Riley, the more he wants her. He wants her to stay in the pack, he wants her to trust him, he wants her to open up, and he wants her in his bed. As Tao grows closer to Riley, so does danger, and the pack is again trying to keep each other safe.
Teo and Riley were a fun couple. I really enjoyed how their relationship progressed throughout the book. It was interesting to be in Teo's head, he is exactly how I picture him to be xD Riley was also a fun character. I like that we get to see different types of shifters. Their little banters were fun and they had really good chemistry. The raven flock was a fun edition and I really enjoyed seeing the difference between the flock and the pack dynamic. The plot was interesting, one of the villains' story lines is a bit of a mystery and I enjoyed it. Mostly because I didn't really know who did it for most of the book.
I always love seeing the little snippets of other couples. We don't get a lot of the pack in this book, but each time they warm my heart. Greta is still the crazy old woman we all love. She did become a bit softer in this one, which was fun to see. All the children are a soft spot for me. I love them so much. Dexter and Savannah are so cute and I really liked them with Teo. I had fun reading this, but I wasn't too invested in the characters like some of the other books.
I'm still having lots of fun with these books, and I'm just in love with all the characters. They are a bit predictable and basically all have the same formula, but, whatever xD I can't wait to see Tricks book next !
Rating: 3,5 stars.

Riley and Tao's story was slow and didn't hold my interest.
I hoped the story would be fast paced as they started with a bang, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.
I didnt sense the passion or any strong connection with them.
Tao was the typical male jealous of any male who approached Riley . But there was no heat behind it, no passion I could sense.
Riley's backstory was interesting enough, but she as a character didnt inspire me.
