Wow. Free my girl Jessamyn. All she wanted was to find a job, maintain a long distance relationship with her girlfriend, and keep her old school family from figuring out she is a lesbian. INSTEAD she is fighting demons, LITERALLY, while trying to get the ghost of her Ah Ma to LEAVE HER ALONE pass on peacefully!

This book has like everything! Ghosts, gods, mediums, gangsters, feminism, generational trauma, family obligation and secrets and love. Jess is a relatable protag. Ah Ma is aggravating but also somewhat endearing. I also didn’t know anything about Malaysia coming into the book, so I enjoyed googling random stuff that wasn’t familiar as it came up, like food and customs and the five foot way.
