I enjoyed this book way more than I expected to. If you're a fan of Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick you'll probably enjoy this one too. A good mystery and well executed and the romance is fantastic. A good comfort book that still keeps you guessing and itching to get to the end to get answers

This book as just wow, wow and wow. It dragged me in immediately with how it started.

Poor Samantha, coming back to a life she doesn't know about, she doesn't even want anymore. I really disliked her friends and her boyfriend. Sure she was just as bad back then, when she got those friends, but now she is different.
I must say I loved this Samamtha, and I was kind of glad that she didn't get her memories back in one go, but instead it takes a whole book and even then... I loved how instead of just falling back with the group, she stuck to her new self and talked to everyone, didn't bitch and behaved like a model citizen.

Scott and Julie were wonderful characters, I especially loved Scott and how protective he was and how much he tried to be there for his sister. I was really cheering for him at a lot of moments.

Then we have the childhood friend (sorry he is quite forgettable and I forgot his name), for whom Samantha gets a big crush. And we get to one of the points of the book I didn't like. She was literally drooling every time she saw him, she had to mention a part that she liked, and I can tell you, that starts to get annoying after 3 times. After that, I was like: "Yeah we know you love the boy and want to get in his pants, now stop drooling and do something about it!!"

There was enough mystery in the book, also some scary things that really scared the wits out of me. Like when we see Cassie, or the whole note thing, or several other things.

Then we got the best part yet, the ending. Let's just say, I didn't see that one coming. I had my suspicions on other characters, and while I was slightly suspicious of this one, I didn't think they would do it.
There are various plot twists in the story which makes everything even better!

Would I recommend this book? Yes. Yes I would.

I was hooked!

This book was phenomenal. I love how the story started right in the middle of the confusion and I was hooked from the start. The whole time I was changing my theories about the mystery- who I thought was involved and why. I did not guess correctly about several things, but that’s ok because it made it suspenseful up to the end!

Thrilling book, with a cute love story and a sexy blue eyed boy.
Yupp I love Jennifer Armentrout and all that she writes. Is amazing how she draws me in her worlds. This book reminded me a little about Mara Dyer, in a totally good way. It was amazing, and i wish i could know what happens in the near future between Sammy and Carson once out of school and in college.

I'm in love with this book. I was burning the midnight oil desperately wanting to finish it. It takes you on so many twists and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat dying to know how it will end. I never anticipated the slap in the face ending. It was like bam. I highly recommend this YA masterpiece. It was an amazing piece of literature that I feel honored to have read and devoured. Happy Reading my friends!!!!

I'm pretty sure Samantha was one of the most frustrating characters I've ever read. She was so unlikable and she was making it hard for me to sympathize with her. All of her actions were so eye-roll worthy and it took a lot of will power not to throw my phone across the room because of so much frustration.
Imagine, her best friend was missing (and eventually turned up dead/murdered), she was almost killed herself with all her injuries and thought someone was going to harm her again, her 'friends' and basically everyone in the school (and even her parents) thought she killed her best friend, she was on the verge of insanity (all in just a span of few days/week!) but...BUT the only thing that can take all those disturbing thoughts away was her desperate desire to kiss a boy and drool over him. WHAT THE HELL?? Is it just me or it was just too unbelievable? Yeah, I know, she was just a teenager, she was supposed to be hot-blooded. Teenagers tend to do stupid and ridiculous things. MY GOD! That was the reason I'm so picky with YA books! I want to steer clear of those kinds of characters. I simply have no extra patience for them.

AND! Speaking of unbelievable, the sudden turn of her attitude when she was found after missing for a few days and suffered amnesia? I just couldn't buy it. I mean it was a full 180 degree turn and it made my head spin. Yeah, maybe it was her 'real' and 'old' attitude even before Cassie came into her life, but for six long years, she was one of the bitchiest ever known in her school. She was so spiteful you just wanted to punch her in the throat. Yet, with her memories gone, her unpleasant attitude decided to take a vacation, too? I know I am not an expert but is that how it supposed to work? I don't think so. Uuuuuggghh! She was just so exasperating!

Good thing, the characters of Scott and Carson were quite okay for me. Not really my favorite but acceptable enough compared to Samantha. I think both of them, and Julie, were the real foundation of the story for me. Not a good thing considering that they were not really who the readers were supposed to follow.

As for the plot, I was mostly disappointed. I picked this book up expecting at least a good mystery. A lot of reviews said it was decent enough. No it was not! It was so predictable for me. The plot twists were so obvious I can see it from a thousand miles away. Nothing new or extraordinary. Maybe I read enough mysteries that this ended up one of those, plain and simple AND AGITATING, and maybe it was my fault for expecting too much, but I'm just simply not impressed. The romance within the story felt so forced, too, especially in Samantha's part. Bummer.

Overall, I can't say I enjoyed reading this book. I wanted to give this a flat 2 rating, but I want to be at least generous after bashing it so much. My second JLA book but so far, I'm underwhelmed.

I had read this book back in high school (so over 10 years) and wow… it still made me wonder what happened to Cassie. It was almost like reading the book for the first time again, though I did have a ton of inklings on what had happened on that dreadful night. There were some things I disliked about the book (but they don’t really change my opinion on the star rating, I just could’ve done without them). I couldn’t stand how everyone who had family money would look down on those who were either considered the “help” or just considered “poor”. It was a huge factor with Sam’s friend group and her parents and it frankly did get on my nervous. Another thing that I couldn’t stand was Dale and his “hold on Sam”. That whole relationship was toxic and in my opinion it took way too long for both past and present Sam to recognize! All in all though, I loved the plot and Scott, Julie, and Carson (and also the present day Sam) and this mystery definitely had me wondering if I still knew who was behind the death of Cassie.

I thought that the book was well written and was filled with twists and turns. I loved the plot twist near the end but I wasn't in love with the love interest like I was in the Covenant series or the Lux series, but I thought that the book was a fun read.
