A disappointing book, there is no character development but lots of repetitive writing.

Literally such a emotional rollercoaster, character and plot wise. It really made me think about the world and how we view it and that things can change. I got so attached to the main cahracters and the ending was amazing.

Was a pretty fast read overall and felt predictable in some aspects.

I did like some of the one liners and some of the content about living your life tied in with philosophy.

But, I hated that they had depression as a side character and it would show up or disappear randomly. Versus treating and realizing that depression medication can help versus being a point for the character to look at and decide a life was terrible because she had a prescription.

I loved this book so much I didn't want to finish it. It helped me realise a lot of things that were holding me back from doing and feeling things, so I'm very thankful that I got to read this book.

as a person who was told by everyone around them that this book was just wonderful, beautiful and just all in all a fantastic book (a quote on the back of my edition says it’s a fun read) just… please go through the trigger warnings before you read the book! because while it is all the things named above (the fun part is debatable, but i liked it nonetheless) it does deal with heavy topics!

other than that i did love reading the book quite a bit. i loved the general idea of the book, as well as the language and style that it was written in. especially the fact that the chapters can be very short helped my reading experience a lot. i also found myself relating the the topics as well as the main character nora at several points and felt myself “growing” alongside her. this is not my typical genre to read, but after hearing so many people in my life talk highly about the book i decided to get into it and i do not regret it. the only thing i have to say is that at times it could feel a little bit like story was stuck in a loop, but that was never too long for me personally.

long story short: it was a really enjoyable read and, especially towards the end, i couldn’t put it down :))

this book wasnt particularly bad or anything, but it just didnt rly click w/ me.

the midnight library has an intriguing premise, deals w/ interesting themes and ideas; def makes me reflect, and can be inspiring and life-affirming at points. also appreciate how it doesnt end w/ a new romantic prospect that solves all of the main character's problems.

however, i feel like suddenly thrusting nora into various situations w/o any understanding of each life's inner workings isnt the best way to go abt it. the writing's also clunky and the dialogue could even be rly awkward at points, and that becomes annoying after a while. i get why many ppl love this book, but in my opinion it couldve been better executed.

Entertaining for sure, but certainly depressing at parts. If not for being a fast paced read, I am not sure it would have been so easy for me ingest.
Happy for the happy ending though of course.
