This would be a great book for someone to get back into reading or out of slump. Very easy/quick read, with simple language. I like the meaning/message that is being communicated to the reader throughout the story. I could see this book having a great movie adaptation someday.

This book is going to stay with me for a long time. It was difficult to begin, with strong content warnings that I wish I’d been given before I started. But once it got going, I couldn’t stop reading it, and the book is full of beautiful lines and wisdom and empathy. I’m very glad I’ve read it.

I have seen this book in every bookstore, library, bookstagram, and finally, one rainy day, decided to pick it up and see what the fuss was all about. TIP FOR FUTURE READERS: SKIP THE END.

The theme is beautiful and the construction of the plot is engaging. I had some beautiful heartfelt reflections reading this book. To my disappointment and anger, the last 50 pages ruin the whole thing. The plot is SO PREDICTABLE that it hurts, because for a moment you feel like the book will surprise you, it can’t possibly end so lazily. SPOILER ALERT: it does.

SPOILER ALERT
I feel that the way the author manages to speak about the reflection of the value of life, and manage the idea of multiverses in a great way. However, the end I believe is harmful to people who have experienced suicide through ideation, or someone near them who died from it. The idea that “a bad day” led to her wanting to commit suicide and the realizing basically that “she was just exaggerating” is, I believe, a very problematic way to approach this.

In short, this story can leave you with a positive outlook on life and the possibility of other lives, but be warned that the ending is just… ugh.

Une jolie lecture toute douce, qui se dévore facilement.
Ce livre incite à apprécier notre vie, aussi imparfaite soit-elle.
Le message principal est un peu matraqué et manque parfois de subtilité, mais au moins, il est facile à retenir !
