I liked this one, but I liked the fantasy elements a lot more than the romance. I felt the romance was a teensy bit underdeveloped at times. Really just in the beginning as I wasn't really sure what drew Min in at first. But once he acknowledged his attraction, I thought things built more naturally. I really liked Kaz he was a sweet doll of a man and I hated seeing how he was being forced into a situation he would do anything to avoid. But Min was just as trapped. Harry's love affair has them both in a bind. And Harry was the sort of irascible youth that you can't help but love.
I enjoyed this one as a lighter fantasy novel and a great good will eventually triumph over evil story.

4.5 this is what I wanted Master of One to be.
I think I highlighted half of it?
It’s quietly brilliant in a way that reminds me of Charlie Adhara & Maggie Stiefvater’s writing
I will definitely read more Lisa Henry in the future

Amazing and brilliant and a joy!
This was a brilliantly written story with great characters and tons of cleverness, class, and fun! A wonderful adventure with a wonderful happily ever after. Couldn't recommend it more!

So.
I wanted to like this a lot, just as I’d enjoyed the previous Lisa’s books. And I…didn’t. I don’t mean this is bad, it’s just…mostly boring? I mean, I guessed the biggest identity issues from the get go and what happened was very much predictable but hey, predictability itself isn’t a bad thing! Hell, I read and write fanfic in which MOST things are very much predictable.
It's not the predictability, it’s the other stuff.
I’m not sure if Lisa was trying too hard with this or what it was but this was a slight disappointment. I honestly couldn’t fathom just why Min was so into Kaz and frankly, his pet names and fondling the curly hair in the nape of his neck etc came off as icky. I think I was more into a couple of strong female side characters than the MCs? (Also, I mostly skimmed the porn which itself is all sorts of funny because I’ve read SO MUCH of Lisa’s porn. I know how she writes.)
All in all. The overarching story and Kaz’s origin story and character arc? Okay. The other stuff? …meh. The last 18% of the book was the most interesting.

Not sure how I felt about this one. I like a good power dynamic story but...I never liked Min. The delivery still happened. He considered keeping on the collar. Overall I thought him gross so it was hard to enjoy the rest of the story. Enjoyed the inclusion of Harry- more trans characters!

A good story, but the whole thing just felt a bit uninspired, like this book will fade into the recesses of my mind, quickly forgotten. There wasn't anything I disliked about it, but in the same token, there wasn't anything memorable about it.
A good fantasy if you're looking for some LGBTQIA+ characters, but it's only a mediocre fantasy as far as fantasy books go.
3.5 Stars!
An engaging fantasy showcasing thief Min and how he must accomplish an impossible mission, less his “nephew” Harry befall a fatal curse.
Min wants to project that he’s a badass loner who only watches out for himself. However, Harry is technically his protege and his found family and though he’d never admit it, Min would do anything to save Harry from his own folly. What ensues is a dangerous journey across fae infested lands to bring back the heir of one of the realm’s most powerful houses. What Min doesn’t expect is to actually sympathize with Kazimir’s predicament, nor does he plan on falling for the handsome mysterious lad as well.
This had some good world building, political machinations, and interesting magical goings on. The characters were layered, and though Min and Harry have their many faults, they have the best intentions despite their less than stellar reputations. The love story was sweet with lots of hurt comfort, and there was a great conclusive climax to see Min and company win the day!
Lisa Henry fans and fantasy lovers will find this combo difficult to resist! Enjoy!

only read 130pgs and it felt like twice as much. the pacing is weird, the romance unbelievable. Lisa Henry can do better
