Another typical Meg Cabot teen romance, but with a little fantasy twist: one of two cousins may be a witch! Sophomore Jean, nicknamed "Jinx" for her seeming curse of eternal clutziness, moves from Iowa to New York City to live with her cousin Torrance and her family; she needs to get away from something she did that didn't turn out right. She's trying to fit in with Torrance's druggy friends, while staying true to her farm fresh ideals, but she's fallen in love with gorgeous Zach--and because Tory loved him first, there's going to be trouble! Will Tory use her powers to ruin Jinx's life? The witchcraft stuff is always sort of "could it be real? Or could it just be a coincidence that these things are happening?" So it's not one I'd recommend to fans of more "real" witchcrafty books. It's kept pretty light. But it at least kept me more interested--I'm starting to tire of Meg Cabot books, they all seem to be about the same girl...

I chose to read Jinx because I love Meg Cabot books and I thought why not? Although, it did take a long time for me to start reading after I saw and I don’t even know why! But I’m glad I did because it was an awesome read.

Jinx is about Jean, who thinks she is cursed. Wherever she goes, misfortune follows. That’s the reason she had to move to New York from her small town, Iowa. I’m not giving the real reason here, because I would probably spoil the suspense.

So, now we have Jean, living in New York and trying to fit in with her cousin Tory’s crazy friends. Turns out the kids in New York are way more sophisticated than the ones back home.

It turns out Tory has a secret. A secret that quite a lot of people know about, but very few people believe. Jean doesn’t want to believe her secret but she knows it’s true. After all, Jean is also part of this little secret.

Again, I’m not elaborating because of the fear that there may be spoilers. I pretty much dislike reviews with spoilers, because if you’re telling me the story, then why should I read the book?

Meet Zach. Tory has a huge crush on him and Jean does too, sorta. But Jean knows that Zach is in love with somebody else, and so she and Zach are just friends. Jean even helps Zach get his girl, but who knows if he actually wants the help.

(Right now, I’m trying to make the story as alluring as possible, but I’m not your best writer, so I don’t know if I’m doing a good job or not)

If you’re a fan of YA novels, you know how this goes, right? Zach is most definitely going to end up with Jean. This isn’t even a spoiler, this is an obvious fact. I’ve read so many of these books that I can figure out most plot twists. Who know why I still love them!

Anyways, this book is definitely one of my favourites. I don’t know how many times I’ve read this, don’t know how many times I’ve replayed the words in my head. In fact, after writing this, I’m probably going to read it again!

Jinx combines mystery and magic with a little bit of romance, of course (it wouldn’t be a Meg Cabot book otherwise). I highly recommend it and I hope you love the book as much as I do.

Jean's moved to New York to escape a stalker, but the cousin she's living with turns out to be a bigger problem.  A good read, with witchcraft thrown in.

It's a frivilous teen book. I read it in a couple hours. Like watching a cheesy chick movie. Which I love. Therefore I enjoyed it. Wasn't anything amazing though. I actually felt bad for Tory. Her cousin comes in a takes over her life and is better at it. I'd be upset too. Far from the best literature I've come across though.

I think this book was okay...I was looking for more 'magic', if you know what i mean.

This is a book about a girl called Jean who has, well.....a bad luck.
One day, she was sent to New York to live with her aunt and uncle. Oh, and of course, Tory. When Jean arrived there, things didn't go as well as she expected.
1. Her cousin, Tory had changed, a lot
2. She made a fool of herself in front of her crush
3. There is clearly something wrong with Tory

That's the hint :P
In my opinion, this book was, OK. I don't like the fact that Cabot skipped a lot of point. For example: the reason why jean moved, Jean at the hospital, etc. Oh well, i guess that's what you would expect from Cabot.
