I picked this book because of the name and the author is a popular one that I've never read. Unfortunately, I found most of the characters to be unlikable. They were whiny, bratty, or overly naive. The story line was okay, but it wasn't well formed either.

I very much enjoyed this book. It is very much a teen book (as expected from Meg Cabot) but once the story properly started and we got past the beginning inner monologue it really picked up. You have to be willing to read in a High School Teenager's brain though because that does affect the way this story presents itself. If you aren't willing to be there, the story will seem repetitive and the POV voice will be annoying.
I really liked, this one. I don't always like Meg Cabot's books because they are a little too romantic for me, but this one had just a little. I could totally identify with the main character.
I'll start this review off by saying that Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors. The way she writes is like smooth butter. Her novels are always so easy to read since they're so fluently written in a literary voice that speak directly to the reader. As much as I love Cabot's writing, I occasionally have trouble rating some of her books. Such was the case with this one.
There wasn't anything about Jinx that I particularly disliked. The humor, the setting, the characters were all very great, actually! I just somehow felt like something was missing from the actual story.
Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars. If you're a fan of contemporary novels with some supernatural tidbits thrown in, this book would be a safe bet!

Another good one from Ms Cabot that's taken me 3 years to get round to reading it! Loving that it's a supernatural storyline without involving vampires or werewolves.
No characterization to speak of and a plot that just screams slapdash.
This is a cute, easy read. Jean, nicknamed Jinx for her clumsiness and bad luck, is a sweet girl. She's genuinely a good person and is just trying to escape a bad situation. Her cousin Tori, on the other hand, is a bully who thinks she's better than everyone else. It was hard seeing Jean try with Tori and constantly be hurt by her. Her obliviousness to Zach killed me too, come on girl, he clearly likes you! The witch stuff was okay, I would've liked it to be a bit more prominent in the story.
