The book is a little bit slower going, but it's also setting the stage for the rest of the series. That being said, it's still a great book that had me binging it almost all in one sitting. (If it weren't for having adult responsibilities and having to acknowledge my family's existence once in a while, it would have been!)
Be warned, it is a bit dark. It has trigger warnings listed at the beginning that you'll want to check if there's anything you may be sensitive to.
I absolutely love how the Vandals had placed themselves so carefully all around Em and were protecting her the best they could, especially when it really mattered. I love how we learn things along with the FMC as well - we don't have any idea why the guys are so protective of her at all, but we learn more about them bit by bit. The characters are all so diverse, as well, which considering how many there are, isn't an easy feat!
A fabulous read that I highly recommend!
