Blacksad is back! The English version is available now on ComiXology, and there’s just a month to wait until part two of this volume. I couldn’t wait for the Dark Horse paper publication to get more adventures of my favorite cat detective. Still have a ways to go in the video game, so I’ll have that to tide me over while waiting for volume 2.

Gahhh! Yes, who doesn’t love a noir detective story? Set in 1950s-60s New York?
But then everyone’s anthropomorphized animals? I just love it so much. And the artwork?? God it’s so good. It’s some of my favorite artwork, hands down.

Blacksad comics are a big ol' treat, always. I don't have anything new to add this time around. I could read 100 of 'em. It's a colorful, lively world with heart and an often-classic view of, and sometimes wrestling with, morality. It's also probably a solid intro to noir, given the fun of animalia tied to the go-to tropes and character types. Here, we get a fourth of a big arc and I can't wait to see what the city's got in store for its heroes and villains. (We even get an expanded transportation in the big city subplot. Incredible.)
another great graphic novel in the series. Waiting for the second part!
