This was incredible, I finished it in a day. I love books that have you analyzing every single thing about a situation in order to understand the characters. Being told that Alicia killed her husband in the beginning and then finding out through reading how it all came to be was such an interesting approach.

The twist is one of the best I’ve read. Might be a bit slow at parts
Fun little thriller, quick read. I like the twist, I didn't see it coming. Very interesting point of our childhoods influencing us in our adulthood, traumas that we may have blocked out resurfacing when triggered. So Theo didn't kill Gabriel, he just broke and entered and held people hostage. I guess if Alicia hadn't killed him they would have just broken up? Or talked and forgiven each other? (yeah right) But because of her past which Theo didn't know about, it triggered something buried in her and she became the child from that night again.

I get that this is a mystery book but if the main character is gonna be a therapist I’m gonna expect him to act like a therapist and not a detective lol. A lot of the doctors were incompetent which made the reading experience not so enjoyable. the story and where it was going towards the end had potential for sure!

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions” has never fit more. At least for the twist entailed. I found this book to hold a very dark and sad vibe the entire time. I don’t think I really connected to it as deeply as I could have, all of the characters were untrustworthy in their attitude, everything felt like a secret. So, because of that, I think it’s a great thriller as anticipation and distrust like that is highly necessary so you can’t predict the twist as well. I think the author also peppered in some wonderful insight and perspectives. While I liked the story overall, it was still a bit off-putting and even somewhat pathetic when you realize that all of the issues discussed and given throughout are based on sexual desires. Relationship issues and deceit are one of my least favorite avenues to travel when exploring human psyches. Mostly because I can’t understand a lack of loyalty so it just turns me away from it overall. That being said, this was a well planned plot and has some other very intriguing concepts in the first half about psychological insights that I fully enjoyed. If you want a very fast paced thriller with a few deep dives into relationships, mental health and psychological breaks, this is a good read. I think I just expected something a little different.
