NECESITO LEER EL SIGUIENTE LIBRO YA. Fue tanta información, estuvo tan denso y emocionante... fue perfecto :3/ ese final tuvo tanto suspenso que no podía creer que terminará ahí.

With only the highest respect intended, I have to wonder if Nagatsuki-san simply has no ideas on how to clear Subaru from this loop. This particular loop feels endless, with zero signs of any progress being made in any direction - to the point that even Subaru dismisses his chances, interacting with complete knowledge that he's failed before anything negative occurs! It's extremely difficult to want to cheer on and pull for a character - in particular the main character - when they've given up themselves, and getting through the book was an agony. The introduction of the second trial and the theory proposed was interesting, but it ultimately led nowhere and accomplished nothing, leaving me wondering at the point. The only clarification this volume brought was Echidna's character, and, to be honest, any reader could have deduced the motivations behind her actions from their reading prior to her lengthy speech (which, unknown whether this was another in the usual slough of editing problems or an error on Nagatsuki-san's part, was in desperate need of paragraph breaks). This concept and story hold so much promise, but the current arc is slagging, and I honestly don't know if I want to continue reading when anymore when faced with this endless circling of the drain.

4.5/5
This was probably one of the best volumes in the entire series so far.

You know, I’ve been reading Re:Zero for many years now and it still amazes me how the author has the ability to make me sob like a child through entire chapters. Truth is, I’ve known these characters for so long, that when I see them at their lowest, it gets me. It hurts because I’ve seen them try their best, and despite what many believe, sometimes I totally get their way of thinking.

In this volume, Subaru knows the truth about Betty and how she’s been waiting for someone to release her from her pact. She’s been alone in that library of forbidden books for the past 400 years and I could never imagine what that feels like. My heart truly aches for her.

On the other hand, we get to see how life would have been for the people that remain after Subaru’s gone. Meaning that we see how Emilia, Ram, Wilhelm, Felix, even Julius and Betty mourn for Subaru –those scenes really put my heart into a blender. Emilia is the one that gets affected the most by his loss and seeing her go mad felt like multiple daggers stabbing my chest. I love both of them and the first kiss they share is absolutely heartbreaking.

Aside from that, we learn that Roswaal knows about Subaru and his loops, though he’s not aware that the trigger is death itself. Also, Ryuzu’s existence was nothing but Echidna’s experiment to become immortal. Therefore, we must acknowledge that at the end of the day, Echidna is still a witch, and even if she wants “to help” Subaru, she’s only doing it for her own sake. Thus, he should not trust her entirely.

Last but not least, we get introduced to Carmilla (the witch of Lust), Sekhmet (the witch of Sloth), and Satella (the witch of Jealousy/envy), who happens to look and talk exactly like a crazy version of Emilia. Does this mean she’s an alter ego? A clone? Perhaps even a homunculus?

We still have a lot of questions unanswered, so I’ll read the next novel as soon as I can.

Side note: if you're watching the anime (Season 2), you HAVE to read the light novels 'cause they're chopping a lot of important information in the adaptation.
