i really liked this book, the concept of it is unique because as an avid romance reader you never really read about what happens when there is no happily ever after
katie has a lot of family trauma that as she is recovering from this breakup she rehashes on the loss of her mother and how that has shaped her and affects her grieving process now
additionally with her breakup, it's sort of healing seeing the ways she's moving forward from it and trying to essentially understand her family trauma and heal from that as well
shit hurt tho, very healing but also painful

Hazel Hayes, you’ve done it once again with your honesty and the clearness of life present in your writing. You’ve expertly weaved the realness of the grief magnet that exists after a break up and the pain of processing it all with a strong glimpse of clear hope present in the scrumptious beauty of living itself. Again - will ride or die for your writing!

Holy fuck.
I honestly don’t know if I have words to even describe my experience reading Better By Far. I thought nothing could surpass Out Of Love but Hazel’s second book took on a life of its own. It was one of the most beautiful explorations of grief, loss, longing, that I have experienced and I just know it is going to stick with me for such a long time.
We develop through different forms of grief and their interactions, an exploration of the impacts of trauma through a whole life, and the importance of recognising this. I adored the deep-dives into the uniqueness of female relationships, and the power of these - especially through scene of the full moon ritual.
It was raw, it was brutal, and it was true. Another outstanding piece of beauty from Hazel Heyes.

Saying this was a book about grief doesn’t begin to capture the story, and what it meant to me. Read it for yourself ❤️
