This book was very good. It made you think it was about grief and sadness from a breakup, but the FMC learns a lot about her self in the process, dealing with grief from losing a parent.

I could say a lot about this book, but I’ll keep it fairly short. Hayes does a fantastic job of displaying grief in a complex and introspective way. I’m drawn to say that it feels almost autobiographical, but that feels intrusive to assume. While I didn’t love it as much as Out Of Love, I still greatly enjoyed it.
If you’re looking for something that examines human emotions in what a lot of society might call “pretentiousness” in a fictional setting, I think you would really like this. At the very least, you will shed a tear and maybe learn something about yourself/the grueling grieving process

Not my typical cup of tea, but the story did suck me in! I like the meta-discussion of blending romance with horror, as well as the nightmare sequences. A pet peeve with genre fiction: I get frustrated when side characters treat the protagonist with endless devotion without the reader ever seeing the protagonist be a good friend herself.

Shoutout to the author narrating the audiobook; she did a wonderful job.

this was really just not at all what I expected it to be, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. this book was a deep dive into the lasting effects of grief and how loss can shape every interaction of your life. raw and real and scary at times.

“there’s nothing more horrific than love” 2.0

hazel hayes is two for two in writing books i’ve devoured in one sitting. i could think about liminal spaces forever and this book does such a beautiful job exploring them and grief together

and a chapter being titled “i kissed someone (it wasn’t you)” made me smile so big
