I really wanted to like this, but I felt there was nothing in this story to really grab onto. The characters felt barely developed, and the lore and magic system very vague and uninteresting. The villains were also a weak point, I found I didn't care much about them at all and just felt super detached from the story. I kept with it in case things improved, but when the plot finally resolved, I just felt glad that it was over.

Fun and entertaining fantasy with an interesting setting. Only thing preventing a higher grade is that the characters, while enjoyable, feel too generic. Will definitely read the sequels though :-)

J'avais déjà lu Northanger Abbey il y a bien longtemps, juste après avoir vu le film de 2007 et j'avais très envie de le redécouvrir, cette fois en anglais.
Le tâche a été un peu ardue, le vocabulaire étant bien plus compliqué que mes lectures habituelles dans la langue.
Mais découvrir cette histoire dans sa langue originale m'a permis de voir tout le talent de Jane Austen.
Cette femme sait écrire et vous emmener dans son univers.
Maintenant, même si ma lecture fut agréable, je ne dirais pas que Northanger Abbey est le roman de l'autrice que je préfère. Peut-être parce qu'il est très différent de ces autres romans, peut-être aussi parce que je me retrouve moins dans l'héroïne.

A weekend get away in your mind. I admire the way she rewrites. You slip into the storyline and trip right into the characters with each book.
