As always with James Patterson books I found this to be an easy read. I had requested it through my library since it was a new release and did not realize it was a young adult/middle grade book. I flew threw it in less than two hours. Decent story that kept moving and definitely geared to a younger audience. I did enjoy that it was only Patterson writing - I can usually tell when there is a co-writer. Recommend for younger readers and hard core adult Patterson fans.

Again a huge James Patterson fan even for his young adult novels. This is book one in a series and it focuses on Ali a future wannabe detective and his dad Alex who is a detective and ali dad’s. Alex is under scrutiny from the press and the community for an incident that happened on a scene and faces a future court date over it. Ali looks up to his father and wants to be just like him when he’s older, he believes he is innocent.
Ali’s best friend disappears and this is his time to play detective but will he go to far? Is his friend dead? Can he solve the mystery? He may need help… a brilliant story. Devoured it. An easy read. I cannot wait for book two already to see what happens next to Ali and Alex.
A well deserved four stars. Highly recommend. A series to keep an eye on. Exciting. Fast paced. Crime. Young Adult.

Book 31: Ali Cross by James Patterson

Patterson has extended the Alex Cross series into a YA edition featuring his son. I devour every Alex Cross book as soon as it is published and have the next one pre ordered ASAP. I thought I should try this series.

Ali Cross has a mind that is quick and moves between subjects quickly. He enjoys detective stories and wants to a detective like his father and stepmother when he grows up. Ali gets a chance to try out his skills as a detective when his good friend disappears after school one day. The police do not seem to be working the case fast enough for Ali.

I enjoyed the debut of this new series. I would definitely recommend this book to kids grades 5 and older as reviewed. It is a fast paced book typical of James Patterson's other books. My rating 4 ⭐️

It was ok but felt like a dumbing down of a Alex cross to make it ok for kids. Also too much religion for me

This book is a super cute middle grade novel. It gives readers the James Patterson writing of Alex Cross from his son’s point of view-Ali who seems to do very good detective work as well. Would recommend for young readers.

James Patterson expands the Alex Cross legacy in his new series, featuring Alex's son, Ali. This book is the first book in the series and it is such a welcome change. Ali is aspiring to be a detective like his dad, Alex Cross so you not only get the son's (Ali's) point of view, but the father's (Alex's) point of view as well.

A great introduction for YA and middle grade readers to the writings of James Patterson.

4 stars - I really like it.

I used this book as a filler book between finishing one, and awaiting the arrival of my newest one. It was on my daughters book shelf. A quick read, a story that would be good for a young reader. It kept me guessing. I love all James Patterson's books so I thought this was pretty good for more kid friendly book.

James Patterson's mystery for middle grades holds up as well as his adult mysteries do.
