This book was great! The plot was sooo detailed and really easy to follow. It wasn't boring though, there were lots of twists and turns. I think it was quite grown up for middle grade fiction, but that's probably James Patterson's style for hid detective books. I've read a few of his other middle grade books, which were better for 9-12 year-olds. I would recommend this book to 12+ and anyone who loves James Patterson. A great read!

Oh, my word! I've never read any of the Alex Cross novels, but now I will. It says a lot that I was able to read this entire book within a workday! The novel avoids doing something many YA books are guilty of-- fluffing things up to deter the preteen reader from realizing that scary things DO exist in the real world. Was it terrifying? No. But it goes to show a book about danger can be appropriate for middle-grade students and still be realistic. I hope Patterson writes more! If not, I suppose I'll just have to read the adult version-- sigh.

That was no where nearly as good as I was hoping but in saying that it was certainly a middle grade book. The plot was very simple and easy to see. There was enough intrigue to keep a young kid going.
I didn’t really enjoy the chapters from Alex Crosses point of view, they seems in necessary, it doesn’t seem like a cross over book so why did Alex need to have his own chapters? I’ve never read and of the Alex across series but it felt like Alex is full of himself and was kinda annoying, I do own Along Came a Spider but now I’m not sure about reading it... Hope it way better than this one.
Rated G if you are looking for something for your kids to read, there is some theft, but no sex, drugs, violence (other than when Ali sticks up for his dad and punches a bully... so I guess there is violence...

My rating for this book is based on what it is - young adult. Enjoyable tale, especially if you’re already familiar with Ali from the adult Alex Cross series. I think Ali May end up an even better detective than his dad someday.
I enjoyed reading this. It was kind of boring but entertaining nonetheless.

This book is a good book for younger kids because that is who it is aimed at. This book also good for those who would like to get into James Patterson's adult thriller/mystery book because it easy to read and gives you a taste of how he writes.
The book was a fast and enjoyable read but it was nothing to special.
