Loved it!

It's so heartwarming when two unsuspecting lost souls come together. You never know what you've been missing until it suddenly appears.

Great romance with a real humour to it

3.5*

This is the second book by Ruthie Luhnow that I've read and, like the first one, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

She has a real heart to her stories which give a sense of comfort, like a warm snuggly blanket, even when her two MCs are hurling insults at each other.

There was also a great deal of humour to this tale of a prickly author and the editorial assistant with verbal diarrhoea who is taking him on a tour of his home state of West Virginia for a research trip.

I liked both Ezra and Charlie, their fights were funny bad it was good to see their relationship switch into being one of mutual respect as well as sexual attraction.

The steam level is moderate, sex happens off the page a lot, but the scenes which do take place on screen, as it were, are incredibly hot with an element of mild D/s to a couple.

The epilogue was lovely, and felt well earned.

There were a couple of typos and odd grammatical mistakes but nothing too distracting.

Ah! This was really enjoyable. A solid 4 star read because it not only had one of my favorite tropes (love/hate relationship) but it also had awesome sex - a plus ;) as well as the sweet moments later on.

Charlie and Ezra get off on the wrong foot from the beginning basically because Ezra was a big jerk to Charlie, when Charlie hadn't done anything wrong. And then because he pissed Charlie off, Charlie became pretty judgemental of Ezra because he had to have Ezra point out to him that he wasn't giving Ezra a chance to apologize and make things right. They both messed up in the beginning, Ezra letting his bad temper get the best of him and say some shitty things to Charlie, and Charlie putting his defenses up at basically everything Ezra said in response to that, even when Ezra tried not to be an asshole.

Now, as much as Charlie was in the right for most of this book, I gotta say that when
Spoilerhe's fired because Ezra mentioned him to his publisher - Charlie's boss - as having said something about his book, said boss fired Charlie, which sucks ass, but then when Charlie couldn't get ahold of Ezra, who was secluded for three months in the mountains with no phone or internet so he could concentrate on his next novel, Charlie didn't take it well
and the way he treated Ezra once Ezra comes back and realizes what happened, it pissed me off. I know Charlie was trying to guard his heart, and he had insecurities, but he didn't let Ezra get a word in edgewise when Ezra was trying to explain things, and I don't get why even after the misunderstanding was cleared up Charlie was still pissed. At least he realized later that he was a dick to Ezra ;).

I also feel like the romance could have been upped a tad in this - it was there and what was there was cute and adorable but there wasn't any "realization" moment where they realized they love each other and so when we got the "I love you"'s they didn't feel quite earned. Could have gotten these two to the "love" part a little better, is all.

Also there were several typos throughout this, not enough to distract me a lot, but enough to irritate me a little. Also, there was an abundance of ellipsis' in this when the characters talked that didn't need to be there. There would be sentences where...the...characters would...pause, and it wasn't needed and just tripped me up while reading. Those are little niggles, but still, they bothered me.

Other than those parts I really liked this. It's a fun read - with a super adorable ending too - and some hot rough sex (seriously, at one point Charlie asks Ezra to slap him, which...never actually seen sexual partners enjoy slapping before - outside of BDSM I guess haha), so I definitely recommend this for a fun, light romantic enemies to lovers read.
