I really liked this book. It was a quick but sweet read. The aliens were alien but close enough to human to make the romance believable. There wasn't really a lot of angst which I appreciate but the effort to understand each other's culture was nice.

I loved Evie and Silas from the start. Her love for her cat and his kitty behavior was great. And Vork trying to command Silas....I laughed with Evie on that one. No one tells a cat what to do. And it was little things like that which made this book so great. The references that cat owners know, the little real-world references that most everyone can recognize. It allowed you to connect. And Vork you warm up to. his early on notion of knock up the human and she will care for kids while I have a perfect career and am mostly away was annoying and I was glad when he finally got over that crap. All in all a good read.

Meh

Idk how to rate this one, i hate leaving negative reviews. The stuff with that cat was really cute, and I had high hopes from the sample (first 3 chapters). Spoilers from here: It’s insta-lovey, the aliens have repeated translator issues that I found annoying, and I didn’t feel like they ever learned to work together as a couple. There’s the “omg how could you” 90% plot twist...that gets resolved within 5 minutes. Meanwhile, their actual relationship problems (Like his leaving to fight a death-duel without telling her) never come up. The villain appears to be evil just for the sake of being evil? His actions and motivations made no sense. Oh and it feels like there’s going to be a “who-done-it” mystery about who bumped her, but that fizzles and goes no where.

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️& 2.5🌶️🌶️. Well, I hate to admit it. But I’m an alien *Ahemm* kinda girly. This is my second spicy alien romance and I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters! The translators had me giggling and I loved Vork with “the Silas” it was so cute. It was quite spicy. But nothing too weird considering he’s a green alien. Maybe I’m already getting desensitised to this stuff though idk 🤷🏻‍♀️. I would actually like to continue to read other books from Ava Ross. I really enjoyed the story.

If I had read this book I probably would have dropped it but, since I'm new to audiobooks and this was free with the Kindle Audible subscription, I enjoyed it more than I would have if I read the book.

Ok so look, we all know that we are here for the green peen. Check. Steamy Alien alpha fated mates story.

What IS worth mentioning, however, is the world building! In the the context of an alien romance Ross really goes all out with creating a creepy enough alien world to give real culture shock. The replacement showers, food and beds are great examples.

So come for the Green peen, sure, but stay for the sleeping surfaces that are alive!

Good feelings

This was definitely a feel good story. I love Vork and the strange way with the English words. "Sweet of heart". I'm so going to read the next one. :)
