Laughed out loud more than any other book I’ve read in quite awhile. Perotta is a master of satire while still giving a rich emotional life to the characters that is relatable and might just bring a tear to your eye.
It was okay. A little too much about porn, but I could relate to her searching for love. The empty nest stuff hit home too and going back to school. I tried to watch the HBO show, but the son starts out as such a dick that I didn't continue watching.
This was not my favorite Perrotta novel, but still enjoyable. I found the character of Eve a little annoying and her son was just obnoxious and not interesting.
This is probably closer to 3.5 stars. Overall, this book was fun and readable, but I definitely wasn’t prepared for how deeply it explored the sexuality of some of these characters. I also couldn’t help but be dubious at how some of the main characters reacted to autistic and trans people, but I can’t say for sure since I don’t belong to either of those communities. The ending bumped my stars up from 3 to 4, since it could have gone in so many worse directions.
well written and fully created characters interact with a random grab bag of hot button contemporary issues in a seemingly random way.
These characters are a bit like a train wreck - you want to look away but you just can't.

This was ok. It started out great, then sort of slowed and left a lot of things dangling in a very unsatisfying way. Too many uninteresting "plot twists" I guess.
