okay, I did not realize this was an NA dark romance novel because I didn’t read the synopsis. maybe I should start reading the synopsis when it comes to romance books because jeez, some of these are weird. also I was annoyed because this had a very weak plot.

I guess someone that has a voyeurism kink would be salivating while reading this book, but it was boringggg lol. the whole thing is “ultra kinky” and all they do is vanilla sex in front of other people. in one part of the story, the love interest asked the main character if she was interested in bondage, etc and she said YES and literally nothing BDSM related happened so i don’t know what all the hype was about at the beginning of the book about the “freaky” shit to come because, let me tell you, it didn’t happen.

things that bothered me:
- insta-love to the extreme
- literally nothing happened in this story, I was skimming a lot
- i felt like the plot was nonexistent
- boring
- too many sex scenes; repetitive sex scenes

Something that really made me laugh is that the main love interest’s city that he runs is supporting him even when their supplies get cut off because he wants to have public sex with the main character to piss off the antagonist of the novel. Wow, those are some loyal supporters. I was laughing my ass off when I read that, it is just unbelievable.

Anyway, this was just not my vibe. Im not a big fan of NA romance but I’ve been trying to read some currently popular stuff in the genre to test the waters; currently, everything I have read is not for me.

Ah yes, another Hades and Persephone retelling for me!

The thing is, I really like the premise of Persephone escaping and then making a deal with Hades, but then it was just so boring that I made this book my white noise as I worked on my thesis. But what I did appreciate was the banter between Hades and Persephone and how their characters felt more realistic compared to other retellings I’ve read. Their relationship throughout was better than whatever plot was supposed to happen.

I won’t lie, the smut got my attention again. Try writing about your research’s demographics but then hear Hades growling or something.

Honestly Hades and Persephone giving Beauty and the Beast vibes helped me like this book more.

Okay but I zoned out at one point and came back to Persephone moaning “touch me.” Girl 😭. What was even going on about a third in? And then after that? This was basically porn with some semblance of barely a plot. As if I put it down though rip I enjoyed the smut pls leave me alone.

Fun mythology re-telling for adults, but kind of cheesy
