Ethan was such an adorable vampire xD

Usually, Vampire POVs include old-ish language and slangs and though I love that, I also adored Ethan's modern language despite the fact that he was almost 300 years old.

The storyline seemed kinda rushed, and I felt like there weren't enough moments for Ethan and Tris to fall in love. I felt like there was a lot more sex than emotional bonding.

Other than that, I enjoyed reading the book thoroughly.

this story definitely has its good moments, and when its good, its very good
however, there is so much telling in the story and not a lot of showing, making some characters feel flat
i definitely enjoyed the book, but the story couldve been more

I'm not sure if this is a me or the book thing, but I just didn't like it. I liked aspects of it but just got annoyed the longer I read. So I'm dnfing.

This is my second time reading the author and I really, really liked this book! It's impossible not to love Tristan and Ethan. I liked how they evolved from a toxic, codependent relationship into a healthy and sexy (AF) one. I saw some similarities with [b:We Still Live|52575351|We Still Live|Sara Dobie Bauer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1571926976l/52575351._SX50_SY75_.jpg|73672624], by the same author, which I liked as well, and maybe they even made me love this one more than I expected. I only wish there had been a bit more romance and flirting, although there was enough sex and I'm not complaining. Great for a quarantine!

Contrasts

Parts of this are dark and gruesome and others are light and fluffy. It was a startling contrast at times. I liked the character growth between them. I also liked the world building but the plot meandered some.

This book was so bad it was good. Which is just me saying that critically, this is simply terrible. Entertainment wise? This is gold.

I didn't take this book seriously and I had so much fun without my brain cells. There is a vampire, who finds this cute, coffee-loving pianist attending NYU (and who secretly has a vampire fetish), and proceeds to stalk him before he finds himself falling in love with said pianist. In the middle of this, there is a lot of sex (BDSM included), fluff, blood-drinking, and a dash of danger to keep things interesting. The angst in this book is pretty close to non-existent, but there's enough conflict to keep the book running.

For some reason, I thought this book was funny, especially the stalking bit. Ethan is like a teenager in denial about his crush. He pretends like he follows Tristan for Tris's protection and is genuinely shooketh when he finds out he's simply attracted to him (and definitely a creeper). There's a decent amount of vulnerability and some character development, so I'll take it.

Let me stress that you can't think while reading this, because then you'll be tempted to talk about how the stalking is normalized when it's really a form of harassment that's never addressed. Or that the amount of time these characters spend in bed is admirable, almost like that makes up the bulk of their relationship development. Or that character development for Ethan is . . . learning not to kill people? LOL.

However, I wasn't thinking, so this book felt a world away from reality and just wrapped around me like a comforting blanket, which is what got me. So bad it's good, remember? Enjoy, my loves.

Based on blurb and additional info
This book did not deliver
I‘m so confused
It was a light insta love with semi-open-door content. Stalking and everything else was more mentioned.
Actually everything was only mentioned and happend off page?!

This was really good, and sweet as sin.
Tris is a little shit and I love him for it; Ethan is a sinnamon roll who is so soft for Tris.

This book reminded me of why I like vampire stories. That’s a welcome change for me, since my experience with M/M vampire books so far has been most underwhelming. They tend to have too much gore and violence, but this book didn’t. I also didn’t care that Ethan’s inner voice didn’t sound like a 200+ year old. I don’t read vampire stories for realism.

Tristan was a lovely character that quickly won my heart. He and Ethan also had the couple dynamic that I enjoy (sassy social butterfly character vs. cold arrogant rich type), so that was great all around.

There’s no “but” to this review. I liked it. It’s not going down as a new favorite, but I had fun reading. If this author writes something else that looks like it’d be my thing in the future, I’ll be sure to pick it up.

Oh, and look at that cover! Gorgeous!
