Great book! The ending felt a little abrupt but wasn’t bad by any means. Good writing and really good character development. Can’t wait to continue the series:)

I enjoyed this and I don’t really know why. Just not enough to keep going with the series. I think Laura Horowitz’s narration in the audio version saved it for me. Without her this would have been a 3.

***spoilers***

My biggest issue was that I still have no idea if it was so predictable that I made things up in my head or if the author forgot about scenes where we already were told things. Like… I could have sworn FMC knew her target was the fire prince and she acknowledged that she knew MMC was her target before she was taken by douche lord to be his unwilling wife. But it was like the biggest bomb was dropped at the end that he was the fire prince. I was looking around at nobody in my house like… everyone already knew this right?

For a bunch of highly trained and skilled killers and magical people… they really suck at keeping FMC happy and healthy.

Like I said, I don’t understand why I like this but I did. I was annoyed through the last 60% but I was never bored.

The only thing I didn't love was the fact that I figured out Sorin's identity about halfway through the book. Scarlett, being as skilled and ruthless as she is, I feel like she should have figured it out too.

I am torn between 1* and 5*. I hate and loved it. I hate the FMC but love the MMC. The story is great, I want to know more about the world but I really don't like the FMC.
The whole book could be 300 pages shorter if the MCs started talking to each other. Everyone keeps secrets or even minor stuff from each other. Why lie about your favorite color?
The FMC expects truths above all else and freedom in choice. But its okay for her to keep secrets to herself?
Frustrating. Worse than the third breakup act in romance books because of miscommunication.

Spoilers:
We are constantly told how amazing, powerful and just the best the three/two sisters are but they get constantly owned? We don't actually see a lot of their badass behaviour. How did they get captured multiple times?
I just don't like Scarlett. She is impulsive and immature. She has two modes, badass assassin or deeply depressed. There seems nothing inbetween. She went through horrors no one should go through but I feel like she has a switch that can't be switched on and off between her two modes. I am missing something inbetween.

A slow repetative fantasy story about a young woman brimg controlled by 3 different men, a Prince,  a Lord service man's son and a thousands year Fea Prince who killed her mother. Ends with her going through the boundaries into Fae world and learning that the Fea Prince in love with her, what will she decide when she awakes in the 2nd book?
So many times I had enough of her complaining, hopefully she grows up through the subsequent books.
