Una dose di troppo by Robert Dugoni

Unfortunately, my least favorite in the Tracy Crosswhite series thus far.

The plot revolves around the death of a young African American boy who is hit by a car while returning home from playing basketball. It is soon brought to light that the heroin problem in the city is on the rise, and that there is a mass cover up to protect members of the military. All of this provides a unique story, a decently scripted plot, some good legal moments, and of course it shines a light on contemporary issues many cities in the United States are facing.

Yet in comparison to the prior four novels, this one was not as 'thrilling' as the others. There was something missing here although it is hard to put my finger directly on the pulse of the problem. Perhaps the story was less invested in murdered women than prior segments? Perhaps we delved into sub-characters in a way that didn't tickle my fancy?

The one mystery that I was interested in was the Tracy-Dan-baby drama. Are they going to have a baby? Are they not going to have a baby? Well, Dugoni leaves that answer on the very last, last, last page--because he knows that was suddenly what I became most interested in. Which is actually a compliment to him, because at first I didn't understand why this series needed the hint-of-romance (Tracy/Dan) at all. Of course, now it is an integral part of the world.

Hoping the next book in the series is a little more reminiscent of the first four, but this one isn't terrible by any means. Still worth a read. Just very different from prior novels in the series.

Another great story from Robert Dugoni. In Close to Home it all starts with a deadly hit and run and Tracy Crosswhite has a new death to sort out and as usual it soon gets muddled by jurisdiction. I feel that there is a theme of misogyny in the series and it needs to be adressed in the world. If you out there needs a new series to read I recommend this one.

Let’s just say I rarely stick with a series this long. Though I didn’t get hooked on this one as easily, it didn’t disappoint in the end.

The plot lines are usually interesting but almost every piece of dialogue ends with “he/she said” even if they asked a question and that’s such poor writing I can’t ignore it anymore

This is the 5th in the Tracy Crosswhite series. We get more of Del, Faz and Kins in this story, which I enjoyed. But this wasn’t one of my favorites from this author. Still worth the read.

These books are just phenomenal! I've loved all of them, but this had got to be top 2, if not the best of the series. It tackled some tough and timely subject matters and I loved the interweaving of the stories. And what's not to love about badass women kicking butt?

For the love of GOD!!! Why does this end with Tracy Crosswhite pregnant?

WHY?!?!?!?

Seriously...it's enough to make me not want to continue the series.

Very possibly my favorite so far in this series. Already downloaded the next. I took a step away from the Crosswhite series after reading up to this point back to back. Now I’m wondering why I ever hit pause. Great book!
