This was better than my rating suggests.
Just not for me however. But that’s more a choice of preference.

Writing was really well done, story interesting, moved well, involving.

My issues were the characters aren’t my taste, neither is the story setting.
I can do farms where there’s hard work, cowboy style, gruff quiet interaction, a bit more of a cast.
This was mr nice guy, thoughtful, sensitive, even when he was being a grumpy ass at the beginning.
He was supposedly a warrior in the past, but it didn’t read like that.
Just a lot of crop rotating.

The woman was … too passive for my tastes, but totally fitting her backstory.

Plus, the misunderstandings, while fitting initially, didn’t make sense to continue throughout, a little much.
Story continuity issue, he makes an assumption about her past choices, and thinks a little less of her for them. When later she brings the topic up randomly, and in doing so, provides the correct details, he says nothing. No surprise, outrage, comment nothing? That was weird…

Except for the character choice and excessive misunderstandings, I did enjoy the writing style.
Will read the next one, as it is based on a ship with different personalities

I liked it... He's not grumpy, though. There are some funny moments with her cooking.

 3/5 stars
 3/5  spice

Tropes
  • Fated mates
-Kidnapped from Earth with no return -Forced proximity

My Thoughts First part of this book was 4 or higher stars, I liked the introduction of the MMC and the farm world he lived on. I liked how he and the FMC met, it hooked me in. It lost stars because the book could have been a lot quicker if the two main characters just communicated which is my bugbear. Also some of the hints/foreshadowing was a bit obvious But the MMC does have two dicks

Triggers -Multiple references to past rape -Mentions of previous abuse from parents -Women sold into slavery and some into sexual slavery -Violence towards both main characters -Mentions of infertility -Pregnancy -Poor communication -Mentions of death in the family and war on another planet Representation Nope

Spice One of the highlights of the book- he has two dicks, a pleasure and a mating dick. Also mentions of double penetration and some scenes where he was more domineering

Special Notes I think this author is quite early on in their career and I look forwards to reading more of their books once they develop

Going to DNF this series. There's nothing of substance.
I wanted to read Havok's story but the reviews made it clear that I wouldn't enjoy that either.

This is in severe need of some editing. Just plain messy.

I do like a damaged warrior. Emily & Mak made a good couple. I think that I would've liked it a little more if we had had more story and a little less of the sexy times... and I am still getting my head around the double dick... I mean... does that mean DP every single time? Think I might prefer the spur from Ruby Dixon's world...
