It was all over the place. Jumped around to the point where you couldn’t tell what was current and what was in the past. It’s one of those books where too much was going on yet nothing was really happening.

Can't compare to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, of course, but it’s not that bad of a beach read for the days when you have nothing else to read. The place descriptions are lyrical, the characters appealing but lacking a certain something—oomph and memorability, perhaps?

it's a very quiet and sweet book. It's sort of predictable and very much like the sisterhood books. I have a feeling that I would have experienced it very differently if I was younger. So I feel like even though it's billed as her first adult fiction book, it still belongs in the sisterhood category.

This is one of the best growing up stories, that I've had the privilege to have read. There's nothing hidden, and all is bare.
The relationship between Riley and Alice will make you run to your sibling in a whim for some of the same brotherly bond, and Alice-Paul relation is beautifully written.
I feel in love with Alice character, who's thoughtful actions and thoughts guide you trow the book, even during her worse times.
I've bought it in a whim, and haven't regretted. In some ways you wouldn't expected it from the same author who wrote a very young series like the sisterhood, but at the same time it is the natural succession.

this book is dumb and shallow. i know this book is intended for YA. but this must be the dumbest plot i ever read. i literally have to skip many pages and after 50%, i just wish i can skip this book and put it on forgotten shelf.

Too mushy. Too annoying to read.

THe writing style was good, I just didn't like the story.

It was pretty good for what it was. It was reminiscent of Summer Sisters but not nearly as complicated.

Decent and engaging read. The author writes the internal emotional experiences of the two main characters well. I wasn't as touched by the ending as I thought I'd be, which I feel may have been due to a lack of overall build-up. It was a *nice* story, but I wouldn't say it was a *moving* story.
