Really exceeded my expectations!

Was expecting just some regular ghost haunting which would inevitably just kill everyone or the main character would live, but it would all take place in the home. This book really turns into an adventure for survival and has some decent character development!

3.75 i think? i really enjoyed this book, it was a perfect road trip story to read on a drive! there were some truly scary moments in this that really unsettled me, and i thought the premise and the direction it took was really original and interesting. i also loved the crazy ending, i thought it was pulled off nicely. joe hill is a great writer. however i had some issues with the female characters sacrificing themselves to teach the male lead a lesson... a little yikes. well written but has small hints of classic stephen king misogyny. would recommend to horror fans, i’m glad i finally got around to this.

I’m sorry. I’m half way into the book, and it’s been painful to read through it. It still hasn’t got me, and can’t imagine to keep going all the way till page 374. In my opinion, the story is not that catching, and is unnecessarily long!

This is one of the few books I’ll have to drop. I’ve read Don Quixote (over 1000 pages) and the Bible entirely, and never felt like quitting, but this one… Nope.
