I won't write a lot as it is a book you need to go in blind to, to fully enjoy.

The play really only starts about 100 pages in and it is a mass of story beats from there. The main character Noa starts off as an arsehole and you will be amazed that anyone likes him. This being side does have very good character development  as he is a redeemable character by the end of the book.

As soon as I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. I didn't even look at what it was about. Didn't care. The author is that great of a writer!
He did not disappoint me either.
In the synopsis, it says this book is like Black Mirror meets What If It's Us. I haven't seen the latter one, but I definitely get the psychological vibes of Black Mirror. The romance, and the characters, gave me Aristotle and Dante vibes. I love both of these though, so for me this book was a page turner. I needed to see if they would figure out where they were. I also needed to see how their relationship would fare. I was invested, to say the least.
Another fantastic story from this author!

If you like stories that feel like multiple stories with the same characters in one book...
If you like sci-fi stories where something's not quite right, but you're not sure exactly what...
If you like gay romance combined with mindfucks, the most irritating AI you'll ever meet, and figuring out how to send a big 'ol middle finger to The System...
You'll enjoy A Complicated Love Story Set in Space.

Shaun David Hutchinson does it again! I've loved all of his books, and A Complicated Love Story Set in Space is no exception. It has all the wry comedy, painful darkness, and beautiful sincerity that characterizes Hutchinson's work.

The structure is more episodic than a typical novel, but it never feels disjointed. It keeps the pacing brisk without losing the plot's through line or the characters' emotional arcs. The three main characters are believable, sympathetic, and well-developed. Noa is excruciatingly frustrating in that way that teenagers are, but you understand and love him anyway. DJ is someone you just want to hug, and Jenny is a perfect blend of hilarious and heartfelt. I also love the Jenny Perez character, a child actor turned B-list celebrity who fills in the characters (and the reader) about the essential expository details and provides many of the book's strongest comedic moments.

I want more Noa, DJ, and Jenny! I fell in love with the characters with all their flaws, and I can offer no higher praise than that.
