It was so slow, and yet I felt like I didn't know the characters at all even after hundreds of pages. The world building wasn't there for me, either. Finally, the main character is completely unlikeable (not in an anti-hero way but in a blundering idiot way).

I didn't finish it, and I'm a serial book finisher. It might be good for people new to fantasy but it really fell short for me.

I initially quite liked the setting of this story - people living in a giant tree, airships, oppressive religion etc. But it all got a bit cliched for me, the rebel leader to the oppressed masses, the spiritual trances when they listen to the Sap - eh. I finished it, but rushed through the last part.
