🩰🏒 Spiral Review 🏒🩰
Genre: Sports Romance
Series: Off the Ice #2
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
Rating: 3.75 ⭐️
This book was very cute and sweet. Eli was such a golden retriever and I honestly ate it up. He carried this book on his back and has become one of my book boyfriends for sure. I also liked that we have moved out of college with this one
Tropes:
• Fake Dating
• Hockey Player x Ballerina
• Slowburn
• Forced Proximity
There were so many moments in this book that I found myself smiling and just physically melting because of how cute it was. Eli literally said and did the sweetest things for Sage and I couldn’t stop myself from also falling in love with him. ‘Sage and Elias Unfiltered’
The romance was just amazing. I also really loved witnessing Sage and Eli interact with their friends and family. You could just tell that they fit into each other’s lives perfectly.
Now, there was two things that annoyed me in this book and did let me down while reading. SPOILERS START HERE.
The first is everyone making such a major deal of Elias not having his first pro goal yet. The team/franchise gave him an ultimatum instead of offering their support and services. I understand they are a business and spent a lot of money on him, but it’s not going to help his performance if he is thinking of being fired or traded. And then getting mad about his public image when they literally have been trying to play it up for ratings?
The second was how Sage reacted to finding out Eli is celibate. She made it about herself and thought it was a rejection. Then when he continued to stick to this vow, she got upset and didn’t really respect his boundaries. This really rubbed me the wrong way.
But other than that, it was such a cute read and I loved Eli sooo much!
