This is probably the earliest I have given up on a book in a very, very long time. But....i just couldn't continue on with the confusing mind-fuckery this book is.
I was beyond intrigued when i read the sample of this book. It sounded so interesting and different. I even put down another book i was already reading, to start this one.

But, once we got past the letters at the beginning....well, things went downhill for me. Quickly.
I am all for a twisty ride. But, this story was just too...well, too much. I realize i am in the minority here, and hell...maybe I would have ended up liking this book if i had the patience to stick with it. But, unfortunately i just don't have it in me to finish it.

I'm going to abide by the author's request to not ruin the "secret".
But I also need to say that there are those of us who avoid these kinds of secrets because they are triggering. (No. It isn't any usual trigger that is normally said and probably 95% of people who would read this wouldn't have a problem in any way).
I really. Struggled with the moment the secret was revealed and then the back and forth of "are they or aren't they" that was like whiplash for something that is very very triggering for me and the type of book I always avoid. I would not have read if I had known, so my two star review is specifically because I hate that the secret for the novel needed to be so protected that I couldn't protect myself from reliving some painful stuff for me.
That being said, I think I would have gone with 3.5 overall. I think it is a lot longer than it needed to be, and I would have DNF'd if I didn't have the tease about trying to figure out the secret around 30% in where it felt very monotonous, but then it got super interesting again and I definitely NEEDED to know what was going to happen, even though I still wasn't sure if I would be let down or not.
For me, it was something I should have DNF'd, but again I do understand a lot won't have the issue I did. I just wish the whole "secret" and "please don't spoil the secret" thing wasn't a thing so it could be added to the tags for the book for people like me who actively avoid these kinds of things so we don't end up bawling for an hour about RL and not the book itself.
(But also I should say it is very rare for me to vote anything under 3 stars as it is so my 3.5 is basically most people giving a 1.5 at most)

So good! I can’t stop thinking about this book. It’s one of those books you wish you could read for the first time again.
That blurb had be so intrigued but I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. While I typically don't read such....graphic books...I kept with it because there was a good mystery going on. Ultimately though it was too long, the graphic-ness of the whole thing wouldn't have bothered me as much if it wasn't every couple of pages for several pages at a time. There were also a few random plotlines that while interesting were never really fleshed out.
I'm feeling a mixture of emotions regarding this book.
ELLLLLLA!!! Omg this story is both heartbreaking & life saving! I absolutely love Kellan’s string theory about life, love and being where you are meant to be.

I’ve never done a review for a book but Sloth has been one of the best I’ve read this year. My emotions were everywhere. Loved it!
Wow! This book had my thoughts all over the place. I didn’t read any reviews prior to reading per the author’s note that it was better to go in blind. I was worried at first with a bit of a slow start. I think it was chapter 8 when things started to heat up and be intriguing. After that, it was hard to put down. A very emotional read, but so good! Looking forward to starting the next book.
