FINALLY!!! The storyline is moving along in this series. And, I'm happy to say, that once it does, everything starts to become a whole lot more exciting. "Now," as Mike Meyer's Goldmember character would say, "the shootzing beginz!" The Sith finally make themselves known to Luke Skywalker in an absolutely fantastic way. Not only that, but Luke and Ben Skywalker's journey to retrace Jacen Solo's earlier slide to the dark side seemed to put them into serious danger. And that's not just because of the Sith. Also, the stand-off between Galactic Alliance leader Daala and the Jedi Order finally seems to be coming to a head and the Solo's granddaughter, Allana, is beginning to emerge as a character in her own right rather than just as a sweet little girl. Troy Denning has given this series some new legs and I hope that the other two authors of this series, Aaron Allston and Christie Golden, will be able to carry the torch a little further along.

I love love love Troy Denning. He does so much more to develop the same characters that other authors just write through hoops. He changes them and brings them to life. Vestara the Sith and her Master are on a mission to get Ship, a Sith training vehicle, but their party is stopped by a woman who is more demonic-Force-presence than human. Luke and Ben are deep in the black hole cluster of the Maw on a station like the superweapon Centerpoint, with a bunch of crazy Force-users who are beginning to explain why young Jedi (now including Barv and Yaqeel) are going crazy. These Force-users take Luke on a reeeeeally hokey and "astral" journey to the spirit world, where he and Ben talk to Anakin, Mara, and Jacen. Luke and Leia both forsee Allana as a future peacekeeper, lonely but powerful. Also, Jaina and Jag figure out a way to get Jarvis to work for them by revealing the government's treachery and WHY DO SO MANY CHARACTERS HAVE NAMES THAT BEGIN WITH J AND K???

Great page turner. I've been enthralled by Star Wars since 1977! I escape for periods of time but am inevitably drawn back into the rich universe that George Lucas created and shared with talented authors like Troy Denning. If you love Star Wars as I do, don't skip the Fate of the Jedi series.
