Fragile Eternity

Finally...a look into Ash's boyfriend, Seth. While this book doesn't necessarily revolve around him, it takes a long, hard, honest look into the relationship between the Summer Queen and her mortal boyfriend. We see how complicated and frustrated both are with the situation. While is immortal, she lives knowing that Seth will age and die and she will be without him for the majority of her life. Seth is terrified of losing Ash to the emotions and needs of her Faery Summer Court, and especially her Summer King.

Seth must find a way to stay with Ash forever, but his options are incredibly limited. To top it all off, Bananach, a faery that craves nothing but war and chaos, has her hands in the pot stirring away, hoping to start an all out war between the factions. Seth finds himself stuck in the middle, being used as a pawn to further various courts desires. Will he make the correct decisions, or will he cause the devastating war that Bananach hopes for?

This volume of Melissa Marr's series was quite intense. Everyone is at everyone else's throats over something. We are also introduced to the High Court, the court that almost never fully leaves the Faery realm. All the characters are forced to make hard decisions, decisions that could effect the balance of things everywhere. I did get a little tired of hearing Seth and Ash complain about their mortal/immortal situation. We realize this upsets you, I don't want to hear about it every 20 pages or so. However. this series just keeps going strong and it sounds like there may be more to come. I certainly hope so!

dark emotional mysterious medium-paced
Loveable characters: Complicated

I confess to being drawn to edgy faerie books and I really like the world drawn by Marr. This one is not as good as the first two and you certainly cannot read it as a stand-alone. I was confused at times - I guess it has been too long since I read the others.

The farther I read, the more I am regretting that I bought the whole set.

Another fantastic book. Can't get enough and I'm going to start to read the next book as soon as I can get my hands on it! :)

it was soooooo good

I was feeling unsure about this series, because I loved [b:Wicked Lovely|305234|Wicked Lovely|Melissa Marr|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1173568263s/305234.jpg|296240] but felt "meh"-ish about [b:Ink Exchange|2321296|Ink Exchange|Melissa Marr|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1201493138s/2321296.jpg|2327820]. Fragile Eternity is a return to the former, but without the wonder (probably because I know that world now).

Seth's journey to be closer to Ash, despite the presence of Keenen and the approach of Summer, is at the heart of this book; the choice he makes is not unexpected, but the ending did take me by surprise. And I have to say I never liked Keenen, so his little "oops" that cost him Donia and Ash made me happy. Just wish Niall was a larger part of this one, but perhaps in Book Four?

A friend asked if you had to read these in order; my advice is if you haven't read Wicked Lovely, you can't read Fragile Eternity. But in terms of continuity, you won't have missed that much if you skip Ink Exchange

Leaving me hanging. Seth is even more awesome than in the 1st book. Seth seeks a way to be with Ash forever. The thought that Keenan is biding his time till he dies is not an option he can live with. Keenan continues to be selfish, even when he seems selfless you know it is a ploy to get what he wants in the end. Can't wait to see how Seth navigates his new fey-ness. I guess I have 2 more books to see how it ends.
