I really enjoyed this simple allegorical tale. I recommend skipping the prologue, though. I understand what the author was trying to demonstrate, but it sets up an entirely different story to the one you read.
J'ai pressenti dès les premières pages que ce livre allait me plaire, et ce fut vraiment le cas.
L'époque décrite n'est pas si lointaine puisqu'elle couvre la période de la pré"révolution" et s'étale jusqu'à quelques années après l'ascension au pouvoir des islamistes (2010 ~ 2013).
Malgré le cadre politique désastreux, l'auteur a réussi à parsemer son texte de notes d'humour, sans pour autant sombrer ni dans le grotesque ni dans la facilité.
Un malheur n'arrivant jamais seul, les situations chaotiques se succèdent sans jamais ennuyer le lecteur ni le faire sentir coupable.
C'est peut-être là le deuxième exploit de l'auteur : l'utilisation de paraboles comme une sorte d'airbags pour amortir le choc avec une réalité que j'ai souvent tendance à fuir mais qui reste néanmoins rude.
Ce fut une lecture exquise qui m'a donné envie de m'attarder sur les autres opus de l'auteur.

After a mention of a drunken orgy in the preface, I wondered what I had gotten myself into picking up this book. It surprised me! About bees, beekeeping, murder hornets, politics, government, religious fundamentalism, cruelty, following God. I really enjoyed this book.
I hope more people don't turn into monsters in the name of God.This book was very thought provoking.
Love this book. I was swept along by the story, the characters, the developing situations, and how people impact other people with their actions and beliefs. Well worth reading.

This is the story of a beekeeper who discovers one of his hives completely decimated by an unknown attack one day. He is determined to find the culprit and save his "girls." Well-written and captivating, this short book is also an allegory about freedom, religion, and politics. It was a quick read, that's best entered into with as few preconceived ideas as possible.

I really love a good parable, and this is a good parable. I'd pay good money to read a follow-up a find out what happened to our lovable characters. But for today, I'll just entertain in my mind an unfinished story.
