I was gifted this book due to an upcoming trip to Finland, which includes stopping at some of the places that Vatanen visits.

I found it charming and amusing, if a little haphazard jumping from event to event. It was fun to follow the route on a map and learn more about Finnish geography.

It's a charming book about a guy who's dissatisfied with his life and just decides to run off into the woods with a hare. There's no moral story or point to his journey but it's a cute trip through Finnish woods and and little villages. I did find it a bit frustrating when he'd just strike of without care for whats happening around him. But it's a short quick read and captures that spirit of "fuck it" that might be appropriate for 2020...
