This was such a beautifully written book. It also taught me a lot, and made me think about the split between India and Pakistan in a way that I had not thought about before; It made me think about the smaller details that can be lost in the big picture and though it made me sad and angry, it also reminded me that hope can be found in the smallest of places.

Oamenii mari strică mereu lucrurile și uită să pună iubirea mai presus de orice... Un fel de Jurnalul Annei Frank daca ar fi trăit in India.

Very good read about the 1940's partition and issues in India and what has become Pakistan. There is a lot of talk from the narrators perspective on the issues with violence between Muslim, Hindu, and Sikh people in the area during the process of India's independence from British rule.

A beautiful story of the evolution of one family as the partition of India occurs at the end of colonialization.

What a beautiful book about a terrible time in history. Terrific historical fiction books like this help us connect to our past and understand it at a deeper level.

Is it possible to rate this infinity stars?

This book was amazing. I didn't expect to like it this much, however, I always enjoy historical fiction. Nisha is a brilliant main character, and the format is wonderful. It's told in letters written to her deceased mother. I will definitely read more of the author's books. She is a genius writer. Also, can it have an animated movie? Please.
