I really struggled with this book and I'm not quite sure why. In my mind I love Virgina Woolf—To the Lighthouse completely blew me away. Maybe I didn't have the dedicated time and brain space to successfully follow the stream of consciousness this time around? I could see spectacular passages and literary moments as they were happening (I made quite a few highlights. I mean, look at this: "For she had come to feel that it was the only thing worth saying—what one felt. Cleverness was silly. One must say simply what one felt."), but it didn't all successfully come together for me. I look forward to reading it again later.
