Loved the “Easter eggs”. I had to buy a York Notes companion to go along with it so that I could write a college essay.

A dense a challenging poem to be sure, it's like a Jackson Pollock of words. Stringing together all of Eliot's references would be a challenge and indeed more time consuming than the reading of the poem itself. Maybe I'll do that one day, but the impression of the words, even if I didn't understand all the references, is still powerful. Foreboding but not especially grim, it reflects the attitudes of the time between two wars, but still holds significant meaning today 100 years later. "Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you".

Today I have read this book maybe for the third or fourth time. And I still don't know what to say about "The Waste Land" and how to write a review. I just want to say that, it's absolutely brilliant.
