Gachiakuta Volume 1 is an interesting start to a fantasy manga series. The story revolves around Rudo, a boy who lives in a floating society divided by class. As the son of a man convicted of murder, Rudo lives on the side of the world that is populated by trash. When he is wrongfully accused of murder, Rudo is dropped onto the world below which is filled with monsters and people fighting to survive.
In volume 1, we only scratch the surface of the worldbuilding and begin to get to know Rudo. He's an interesting character but I hope we will get to see more of his personality and learn more about his backstory in future volumes. The world is fascinating and the art matches the world well. I'm excited to see where this goes in volume 2.

Great first volume! I’m interested to learn more about The Sphere, The Ground, and the relationship between the two. Enjin mentioned that The Sphere moves, so I wonder if it’s like a planet or something of the sort. The power system is also really unique and it seems like only a select few are able to wield it, so I wonder what makes someone predisposed to being able to use it. I also just found out after reading this volume that the mangaka of this series used to be Atsushi Ohkubo’s (creator of Fire Force & Soul Eater) assistant, so I’m not surprised I like this series so far since those are 2 of my favorite anime series. I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes and learning more about the world!

What a strong start to a series. It's just as cool as the cover suggests and I'm definitely going to keep up with this series as new volumes come out in English.

I would definitely check trigger warnings for this book.

I'm intrigued!
Original and interesting premise for a Shounen manga.
Rudo lives in a world where trash is thrown in "The pit." That's also the place where criminals who are sentenced to death get thrown into.

Rudo is a citizen who lives in the slums of a floating city. After an unfortunate incident, he gets an immediate death sentence and is thrown into the pit. He thinks this is the end of his story, but then he wakes up on a pile of trash. Turns out that the pit isn't just a trash dump after all.

I liked the drawing style, and Rudo is pretty likeable. I'm incredibly curious to see how this story will develop and how he's going to exact his revenge on the people who framed him.

I received an ARC through Netgalley. My opinions are my own.
