This was like Victoria Schwab meets Neil Gaiman and it was marvelous!! I have seen a lot where people say it’s obviously middle grade but I didn’t feel that at all. While the prose was simplistic, she still paints the city of the real world and in the veil so well. The story flowed so nicely and it played out like a season of a show or something in my mind. I definitely could not put it down in the least bit finishing it in a total of three and a half hours of reading. I can’t wait for book two and the next adventure for Cass and Jacob!

This series is filled with ghosts, spirits, and all things supernatural!
I love the idea of the Veil!
The relationship between Cass and her ghost friend Jacob is just so fun!
Such a cute book!

Man, VE Schwab can do no wrong in my book. I flew three this, and loved it! It obviously has a creepy factor, there are ghosts involved, but it’s tamed down by the fact that the people they’re hunting are already dead. The writing just pulls you in from the first page, plopping you in the middle of a story, no ramp up necessary. So good!

Schwab can do no wrong. This felt like part ghost story, part adventure novel, part travel. Looking forward to book #2.
