i was kind of annoyed at how nonchalant she was acting about the whole thing. but i think that was just the writing style. i enjoyed it by the end and i really liked the lil love story - this was a cozy read

“It’s a miracle and it’s a curse, the secrets our bodies keep. The ability to carry the invisible burden of these secrets.”

I actually loved this book, in a way that surprised me. it’s grotesque in its body horror, unflinching in its portrayal of women and childbirth and werewolves, and somehow so, so immensely endearing, and shockingly feminist. It’s a book that resonated with me in a way I didn’t expect.

picked the signed version up from forbidden planet and very glad I did. a reflective look on womanhood and trauma. how we come to live with our bodies. and sisterhood.

It wasn’t what I expected. Based on the description I thought it was going to be like urban fantasy/paranormal romance.

But it’s more of a body horror book, and frankly the main character is whiny and boring.

“I’m starting to suspect that werewolves can’t get drunk, which just might be the most unfortunate part about all this.”

What a banger of a book! The main character, Rory, is hilarious, even if I did find myself yelling at her every now and then. Actually, I found myself yelling at all of them. I totally get the rage.

Even better was that this was not your typical “sexy werewolf” story. It was gross, bloody, and real, kinda like having female parts.

Definitely in my top books this year!
