TURN THIS SHIT UP OH MY GOD

I read the Clifton Forge series before this book so the moment I saw the last name Slater I knew shit was about to get real! I absolutely adored seeing Nick’s appearances in Clifton Forge and seeing where it all started with him & Emmy was beautiful

The character development and plot in this book, holy crap. *chef’s kiss* just enough spice to keep it interesting but not super spicy. The plot twists did me in and were so surprising. The suspense was building so you could tell something was going to be happening soon. But the twist was not was I was expecting and in such a good way. Loved this book!!

Weird pacing

I liked the relationship but the book felt like it slowed in the middle and went insane at the end. Why? Just why and what?

As someone who has already read the Clifton Forge Series it took until Chapter 4 for me to realize I know Emmy and Nick and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so excited while reading a book!

Nick Slater is the fire chief in Prescott and has lived there for 9 years. Nine years ago, Nick met Emmy Austin in Vegas for a night full of dares that ended with a marriage. However the next morning he left and they hadn’t spoken or seen each other since. Emmy has decided on a career change and is going to be a kindergarten teacher, she randomly chose Prescott to live never expecting to run into her husband.

Nick is convinced they are meant to be and will do anything to convince Emmy of the same. Devney Perry books are always full of love and suspense. The love between Nick and Emmy was perfect even through the ups and downs. However the suspense was on another level. I truly didn’t see the end coming and I loved every minute I spent trying to figure it out. I also loved seeing Draven and Dash from Clifton Forge!

Now off to read about Silas!

Okay so Emmy and Nick were so stinkin cute. I don’t usually like second chance romances but this one was a goodie. There was a lot of twist and turns throughout the story and honestly that last twist at the end I did not expect/ see.

I read this series out of order but I absolute love see characters from other series andddddddd see character that I’ve already read about being introduced!

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a great job.
