While this volume in the beloved series has the same Nick and Charlie content we have come to love, it also dives into some deeper topics. Again, where Charlie is at is so applicable to what teens go through. This gives it words and a stage that make it easy to understand and feel like you're not alone. For me, this volume dropped one stare because I found the journals told us what happened, rather than showing us. I personally felt a show, not tell would have hit the mark better. I still absolutely loved it though.

This one was adorable and made me tear up several times. The mental health awareness the author brought into this story is so empowering. I hope that anyone struggling with ED/OCD/Self-Harm can find some comfort in Charlie’s journey. I’m so proud of Nick’s resilience and utilization of resources to be the support Charlie needed at this pivotal point in his life.
