Ohhhh this was a sad one :')
In this volume, the story focuses on Charlie's journey through getting help for his mental health/recovery. We also see how Nick experiences all of this. I think it was well handled, I really enjoyed Nick's mom mini-monologue on how to help someone with mental illness/how to support them without needing to fix them. i like how Charlie's issues are linked to what he experienced previously (bullying, assault, etc.)
I liked seeing more of the family on both sides, Nick's and Charlie's.. especially Tori. She is a great character and very suportive.
This was very good, I enjoyed it much more than the previous one. While being very sad and so far probably the most serious out of all the previous installement, there are still a few sweet and cheesy moments between N & C.
Also Henry cracked me up, he looks like my dog

Spoilers Ahead
This is, so far, my most favourite Heartstopper book ever. The story is immaculate, as always, and so is the art style.
We follow Charlie as his mental health is really really bad. He has to be hospitalised, and Nick has to find a way to help him, despite not really knowing how he can do that. Their relationship is still going strong, even when they have to do long distance due to Charlie being voluntarily hospitalised.
The way Nick deals with eating disorders and Charlie having one is absolutely perfect. It’s exactly what people need to see, and I’m glad there’s an awareness being spread about it. I wish I could describe the absolute joy I feel from reading these books, but I genuinely can’t. They’re just beautiful stories, and I love how everyone has become friends and interlinked and the amazing development their characters have gone through. It’s a really beautiful love series. I’ll be disappointed when it ends.

This was a very well done depiction of what it's like to be young and dating someone struggling with mental illness or struggling with mental illness yourself. Oseman handles the subject matter very carefully- not romanticizing, not directly depicting acts of self harm, acknowledging that different people's experiences with treatment can vary while still trying to show positive experiences, and overall being very realistic about all of it while still showing that happiness can be possible.
I also found it very refreshing to see depictions of OCD that are are accurate and outside of the usual stereotypes.
This book pushes back against a lot of the stigmas surrounding mental illness. I wish I'd had a book like this at certain points in my life, and I truly hope that there's a teen or young adult out there who this book has helped to guide through the process of seeking help (whether for themselves or supporting someone else).
