Ground Zero by Alan Gratz is an excellent book. The story follows two characters throughout the book. One on the day of the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers and the other in Afghanistan 18 years later. This book does an excellent job of showing the tragic event and its aftermath from a place we don't think about. Overall, I thought Ground Zero was an excellent book.

I thought that this book was an interesting read. It would be good for my students to read to get a bit more insight to 9/11. A lot of people, including myself, don't really understand to the full extent what happened on that day.  I think this book is a good insight to that.

Ground Zero was a book that is set in the time period of 9/11 after the terrorists attacks on the World Trade Center. The novel follows the story of Brandon in New York and his experiences from the viewpoint of an American. It describes how he went to the World Trade Center with his dad after being suspended from school. It also shares the perspective of a girl from Afghanistan named Reshmina who meets Taz who is the adult of Brandon decades after the attack. They discuss what 9/11 means and argue on why Amercians are still in Afghanistan. Together they work together to improve their circumstances as Taz wants to help the Afghna people whereas Reshmina wants to improve her education. The novel ultimately shows how one event can change a persons life and shows how people can come together in instances that seem almost impossible.
