All right, I know this book, being awesome, needs a review an'all. Only I'm so awfully lazy, I just can't be arsed. You should read it because it's terrific...and that ending, wow! That's all. You have a good one and stay safe.

It's based in really old British New York and the language of that time annoys me.

Interesting historical fiction. Good story-line that kept me intrigued.

A very well-written historical mystery set in New York in the early 1700s. The plot was deliciously complex, Our Hero very likable, and the setting... oh, the setting. Mr. McCammon really brings the city to life in all its teeming, corrupt, smelly (horses everywhere!) progressive glory.

Excellent follow-up to McCammon's Speaks' the Nightbird with his main character, Matthew Corbett. This is a 1600 Sherlock Holmes that loves to play chess and fit together pieces to missing puzzles. Wonderful mystery within mystery. Highly recommend and unputdownable!
