This is a quirky book read through the eyes of a 10 year old girl as her family tries to deal with the grief of losing her mom. Most books that deal heavily with grief and mental health are not fun and humorous, but this one is like if Junie B. Jones books were written for adults. We not only follow this little girl as she tries to understand her feelings about her mom’s death, but her investigation into the cause of death, dealing with her sister’s severe mental health issues, and her dad falling apart and becoming obsessed with his new pet bird. 

This is a weird book, but in all the best ways.
