I'd like to come back to this some time, there are a lot of interesting things about this but I'm having some trouble focusing on it. It doesn't help that the otherwise pretty good writing is occasionally interspersed with really jarring modern turns of phrase like "she doesn't get that vibe" (not a particularly egregious example, but it's the only one I can remember at the moment and it still felt out of place)

I think I need to read this book a second time. I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but as Misery became

more fanatical

I became more confused and turned off. I didn’t realize I was reading

a villain arc and I’m not sure that is the trope for me, but the twist was pretty effective

. 

I loved the

mech tech, the holystone, and the descriptions of the exultant states that Misery entered when using the tech

.

The ending of the book confused me.
