A fun Christmas themed mystery - small town with quaint decorations and a likable heroine.

After breaking up with her fiance, Holly comes home to help out her parent's family business just in time for Christmas. Apparently they go all out with themed parties and actual reindeer themed games. Naturally a murder ruins the party, and Holly tries to solve the crime since her father is a main suspect.

I read this one during the summertime, nowhere near the Christmas season, but it still made the magic of the holiday come alive, almost too much so. I've never seen a town celebrate Christmas to this degree, but that's one of the fun things about themed cozy mysteries.

Somewhat sanitized which is typical of many cozies, Holly isn't a perfect heroine. The love people have of her earrings is a little strange, and the stereotypical characters don't add much to the story, but the mystery itself isn't bad even if it's pretty hard to solve with the clues given. There isn't a big surprise or twist in there, it's more a story to read because you're enjoying the environment of a cozy instead of marveling at the creativity of the mystery itself.

There's the romantic subplot too, which is just okay since the romantic interest is light without any steam or intrigue. Still, it fits the sub-genre well and is kind of expected when you're picking up a book like this.

Fun start to a new series. I really enjoyed the characters and the town of Mistletoe.
A bit of romance was a nice addition and didn't take away from the mystery. Not too many suspects but just enough to keep me guessing until the end.
I am eager to read the next book in the series!

Oh. This book started off so well. Holly White is back in her hometown, not because she wants to be there, but because she was dumped by her fiance two weeks before the wedding. Unlike other series, Holly is happy to be home. She loves Mistletoe, Maine, loves the quirky people who live there, and loves being in a place that embraces Christmas so much. Rather than being resentful that she's forced to return home, it's nice to have a character who is happy to go back to a place that loves her.
Well, except for Margaret Fenwick, the president of the Mistletoe Historical Society. The woman is clearly unhappy and is pretty much trying to drag the rest of the town down to her level of misery. It's just too bad that she's murdered on Holly's family's farm right after a fight with Holly's father.
It's too bad the ending was a) just a little out there and b) so darn cheesy. I'll try the next book in the series but this may not be a series for me.
adventurous funny lighthearted mysterious fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Yes

This was a wonderful Christmas-themed cozy! This is the first I've read by this author, but I hope I'll be able to finish the other two in the series before the holiday comes & goes. The characters, including Holly, are fun. The setting is great, and the mystery is enjoyable. Definitely recommend if you're looking for some holiday reads!

Despite this being a murder mystery, this is such a cute, cozy, and sugary sweet Christmas story that filled my heart with Christmas spirit! Can't wait to read more in this series!

Holly returns home after her fiance calls off their wedding, it's exactly what she needed to get away.
That is until she finds the body of Margaret Fenwick.

This starts off a series of events that could jepordise her families business and so she starts her own investigation into what happened in the hopes
that she can take the spotlight away from her family.

Every time she finds something out she ends up with more questions than answers!

This is such a fun christmassy read that I am so glad I requested a copy, who knew you could put Christmas, murder and mystery together
and come up with such a wonderful cosy read!

If you are a fan of the hallmark mystery movies then you will adore this book!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an Arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

Holly White has returned home to Mistletoe after a broken engagement. Determined to start over and help with the family business she jumps in, almost like she never left.

During a shift at the Hearth, Margaret Fenwick, President of the local historical society, has an altercation with Holly's father. That same night Holly finds Margaret...dead.

With the Reindeer Games now on hold, and her family's only income in jeopardy, can Holly solve the murder in time to save the farm?

What a cute Christmas cozy read! Who wouldn't love to visit a Christmas tree farm and participate in 12 days of reindeer games! I would love to find something like this and participate in a blindfolded gingerbread competition, sleigh rides, snowball rolling, tree trimming and more!

The only thing that irked me a tad is that Holly is 27 BUT a lot of the time her character was portrayed with a lot less maturity for someone of that age. BUT this is a cozy mystery so it didn't take away from it too much. I will definitely be checking out the next book.

I was lucky to have been provided an ARC by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great series debut and a perfect book to get you into the holiday spirit though Christmas is a few months away. Our heroine Holly has returned home after a breakup with her fiancé and the cancellation of her Christmas wedding.

It's not all fun and games anymore at Reindeer Games once Mrs. Fenwick turns up dead. And Holly's father is the number 1 suspect after having a public argument with him. Holly must solve the mystery while getting reacquainted with the town she left years ago.

This mystery hits all the right beats a cozy mystery should and you'll want to add it to your holiday reading list.

I was going to give this two stars, but heaven help me, it just got worse as it went...
