Meeting the Characters
Rhys
Melanie
Esme
----------------------------------
What happens?
Melanie is kicked out of her apartment after her flat mate's boyfriend comes onto her and she defends herself. When Rhys shows up wanting to offer her a live in position to be a nanny for his child she is hesitant to accept it.
Rhys is hiding a big secret from the world. He has a few months left of maintaining the normal he has no love for in order to get his hands on his late parent's estate without strings. Meeting Melanie could help him with his daughter but ends up risking his goal more.
Final thoughts
This was weird. It was rocky from the get go and I nearly put it down never to be picked up again but I thought I'd give it a good chance and see how it went. It didn't get better but I did finish it.
I can't put my finger on how its weird completely but; the sex scene felt very much a surprise it didn't build up to it entirely it was like the author went "ah I need something" and it was wedged in there, its built up a little by having her go with him to some gala but aside from that its not enough.
The kid who is a main focus becomes a back burner. I thought you'd see more but instead its a little part of her with mainly Melanie.
Would I read again?: No
Would I read this author again?: Maybe?

Listen. That man is an absolute fucking asshole. From beginning to end. Zero character development. He's the type of guy who hires someone to decorate the Christmas tree, even though he has a 6 year old daughter who would obviously love to do it - and this really should tell you everything you need to know about him as a person.

Little Esme is really adorable though, so there's that

Melanie and Rhys has chemistry, oh lord. And Esme is adorbs and cute as hell.

Eh

Love the story idea. But to me it’s lacking any depth. Where’s the depth to the characters? Lust does not equal love.

LITTLE ESME IS SO CUTE!! That little girl caught my heart and wow, I love her relationship with either Rhys or Mel. But seriously, she's an absolute precious bean. Heck, even her having tea parties with Derek was so adorable.

This was pretty short and a quick read but I loved it.
